Multi-Agency Response Contained Major Fire Near Carlton
Carlton, OR — On the evening of June 13, 2025, at 7:58 PM, Carlton Fire District was dispatched to
a wildland fire in the 7300 block of Old McMinnville Highway. Upon arrival, the initial crew discovered a
rapidly growing fire fueled by a large stack of wooden pallets and other combustible materials in close
proximity to multiple structures on the property. Given the severity and complexity of the incident, a
second and third alarm were quickly requested to bring in additional resources.
The fire, intensified by dry conditions, large amounts of extremely dry pallets, a large amount of empty
plastic 55-gallon drums, overgrown blackberry bushes, and vehicles on the property, spread quickly.
Crews worked throughout the night to contain the blaze and continued efforts throughout the weekend
with hot spots. Despite their efforts, a primary residence on the 5-acer property and several large &
small outbuildings were a complete loss due to the extreme fire conditions.
Crews were able to save several vehicles, surrounding fields, a nearby dairy farm building full of hay, and
high transmission PGE power lines.
One of the biggest challenges crews faced was the rural location causing limited water availability, as
there were no hydrants nearby. To overcome this, 17 water tenders from agencies across Yamhill
County and surrounding counties shuttled water to the fire scene from the City of Carlton. In addition
to the 17 water tenders there were several structure engines, brush trucks, ambulance, and command
vehicles.
